78 female Afghan National Army personnel graduated with bachelor degrees from a Dunya University!
The graduation ceremony was held in the presence of the First Deputy Minister of Defense, Deputy Minister of Defense for Personnel and Education, generals and officers at the Ministry of Defense headquarters.
First Lady, Rula Ghani praised the active participation of women in the military, “women are the leading lights of the present and future of the country and examples of courage and self-sacrifice for future generations”.
These military women work as trained and professional officers to provide security for families and other women, alongside their male colleagues, and they have a special respect and status within the society.
Shah Mahmood Miakhel, First Deputy Minister of Defense, praised and commended these female graduates and stated that: having received specialized training, you can now work for the progress and development of the country. You are lucky for having such educational opportunities. You have added responsibility towards higher goals now and it is upon all of us to change negative thoughts to positive ones and work for achieving durable peace and stability with sincerity.
Munira Yusufzada, Deputy Minister of Defense for Training Personnel, said that: using a pen, unlike a gun, has no expiration date. Fighting through knowledge, science and experience guarantees your future success. As pioneers of professional military services for the nation, you will be role models for the women and girls of future generations.
Meanwhile, Muska Karimi, MoD's Director of Gender and Human Rights, said that: efforts are underway to increase the capacity of female military personnel. The graduation of 78 young female officers from computer science and information technology, Business Administration and Law and Political Science courses of Dunya University is a result of these efforts.
President of Dunya University appreciated the efforts of these female officers and pledged that Dunya University will do everything to support the youth, specially the female officers.
Programs for the capacity and capabilities of the female personnel of the Afghan National Army are in ongoing. 100 female officers will be provided with Masters courses, in the next phase.
