Asadullah Khalid acting defence minister along with Masoud Andarabi acting interior affairs minister and General Scott Miller RSM commander travelled to Helmand province to investigate the attack on Maiwand Army corps.
In the meeting with Helmand governor General Yasin Khan, Acting Defence Minister and accompanying delegation prayed for the eternal peace of martyrs’ soul and wished speedy recovery for those wounded in the attack. After hearing the initial reports of the incident, Acting Defence Minister instructed concerned authorities to conduct in-depth and serious investigations in order to find more facts about the incident.
Appreciating the military council and leadership of Helmand province, Acting Defence Minister added that ANDSF had significant achievements in the battle filed in Helmand province. Defence and Interior Affairs Acting Ministers after hearing upcoming plans of Helmand’s military council instructed them to take the initiative in the battle field and accelerate operations against the enemies.
At the end, Acting Defence Minister, Acting Interior Affairs Minister and Helmand Governor answered to journalists’’ questions and stressed that serious investigations will be carried out and revenge will be taken from enemies. “We conducted two operations last night that as a result, a planner of this attack was killed and 7 others were arrested.” Khalid said, “Those who neglected will be punished under the law in order to avoid such incidents in the future.” Acting Defence Minister thanked and applauded ANA Special Forces for their immediate response to the attack.
Similarly, Acting Interior Minister called Afghan National Defence and Security Forces united forces with a shared duty of ensuring security and bringing lasting peace. Governor of Helmand province said in his answer to a journalist’s question: “Heavy blows inflicted on enemies’ financial sources and hideouts in Helmand therefore they have lost their fighting capability.”
