Kabul, Afghanistan:  In the past 24 hours, , Afghan National Defense and Security Forces launched 5 clearing operations and carried out 69 Special Forces tasks in different parts of the country in order to remove security threats and ensure security. Afghan Air Forces also conducted 157 flights supporting Afghan National Army and carried out 13 airstrikes on enemies’ positions. As a result, 28 insurgents were killed, 7 were wounded and one other was arrested.

These operations were conducted by the Afghan National Army Forces and with the support of Air forces in Nangarhar, Khost, Ghazni, Paktia, Oruzgan, Herat, Sarepul, Baghlan, Faryab and Helmand provinces.

In these operations, 10 insurgents were killed, 2 were wounded, one was arrested, 17 IEDs and 20 fighting positions were destroyed, 2 vehicles and 2 motorbikes were seized in Sangen district of Helmand. 7 insurgents including 4 Taliban local commanders (Abdullah, Zahidullah, Yousef and Badrudin) were killed and a vehicle was destroyed in Zurmat district of Paktia. 3 ISIS fighters were killed in Achin district of Nangarhar.

Similarly, 3 insurgents were killed in Andar and Qarabagh districts of Ghazni. 3 insurgents were killed and 5 others were wounded in Zawel district of Herat. 2 insurgents were killed, 3 depots of ammunition, 3 tunnels and an IED making facility destroyed in Oruzgan capital. 2 hideouts were destroyed in Gerziwan district of Faryab. 

Afghan National Army as the nation’s defense forces, are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
