Ministry of Defense statement on airstrikes in Khan Abad, Kunduz
This morning, Taliban fighters attacked ANDSF positions in "Nikapaye Sayed Ramazan" area of Khan Abad district in Kunduz province. ANDSF intercepted the attack in accordance with “active defense” procedures. More than 30 Taliban, including two commanders named "Qari Abdulrazeq" and "Mawlawi Abbas," were killed.
Eight others, including two commanders named "Faizani" and "Qari Ebrahim," were wounded as a result of the operations. Additionally, four enemy cars and eight motorcycles were destroyed and a large amount of their weapons and ammunition were destroyed.
Initial reports indicate no harm was inflicted upon civilians or ANDSF personnel.
We are aware of reports of civilian casualties. ANDSF take allegations of civilian harm seriously and these claims will be investigated.
