Ministers of Defence of Afghanistan and Estonia met to expand military cooperation

Kabul-Afghanistan: Juri Luik Estonia Defence Minister met today with Lt. Gen. Tariq Shah Bahrami, Afghanistan Defences Minister, as a part of his plan to meet Afghanistan government’s officials.

Both sides discussed ways forward to increase military cooperation in education, equipment, supply and advice to Afghan National Army. Moreover, topics concerning the upcoming elections’ security were discussed.

Briefing the current security situation and challenges that Defence Ministry faces, Afghanistan Defences Minister said:  “ministry of defence is in a process of reformation, countering corruption and improving leadership, despite being engaged in fight against terrorism.”

Mr. Bahrami pointed out to Afghanistan government’s desire for peace and requested Estonia’s government to increase political and military contributions and support for the people and government of Afghanistan.

The Minister of Defence of Estonia assured of continuing support of his country under the resolute support mission. “Estonian service members will continue their contributions in Educating and Advising Afghan National Army, and mine clearance,” said Mr. Juri Luik , Estonia Defence Minister. .
